A Measure of Faith

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand,
and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
(Romans 5:1-2
)

Karen HarrisGod's greatest desire for us to be in relationship with Him. We have been deceived into using programs, activities, positions and possessions to define this relationship. Often these things work against our developing intimacy with our Father. Naturally speaking, when we are in relationship with someone we spend time learning what he or she likes and dislikes. It works the same way with God. Getting to know him requires time and effort.

There are many tools God has given us to facilitate relationship with him. Of utmost importance is faith. You have it. God gave you some! (Rom. 12:03) Woman Reading BibleWithout faith it is impossible to please God, for anyone who desires to know God must first believe that God exists and that he is a rewarder of them that earnestly seek him out. (Heb.11:6.) The fact that you are reading this is evidence that you have faith and purposed in your heart to seek Him.

Spending time reading and meditating on the scripture encourages intimacy in the same way spending time with any friend creates a bond. In the pages of the Bible, faith grows as we enter relationship by learning the character and expectation of our beloved Father. When we know Him, loving Him comes easily and obedience to his word is a pleasure not a chore. Like any good parent, God delights in our love and obedience. Our love because he loves us and obedience because we trust Him.

The more you know Him the more you love Him. He is known in His word.

Prayer
Father, I want to get to know. Please, as I read my Bible reveal yourself to me as an intimate friend. I thank you that my understanding of you is abundantly increased as I spend time with your word. Amen
